Account & Data Deletion
You can permanently delete your Fact AI account and the data linked to it at any time. There are two ways: delete it yourself inside the app, or email us if you no longer have access to the app. Either way, the action is irreversible.
1. Deleting from inside the app
If you can still sign in, this is the fastest route. It works for every user, regardless of how you signed up — email and password, or Apple/Google sign-in:
- Open the Fact AI app and sign in to your account.
- Go to the Profile tab in the bottom navigation.
- Tap the gear icon in the top right to open Settings.
- Under the PRIVACY heading, tap Delete account.
- Read the warning and tap Continue.
- The last step depends on how your account is protected:
- Password accounts see "Enter your password to delete your account": type your password and tap Delete my account.
- Apple or Google sign-in (no password on the account) sees "Verify it's you": tap Delete my account and, if your session is not recent, the app opens the Apple or Google verification screen. Once you verify, the deletion continues on its own.
Your account is closed and the records tied to it are deleted on our servers immediately after you confirm — there is no waiting period. Once it is done, you can no longer sign in with that account. What remains after deletion is listed in section 4 below.
2. No access to the app: request by email
If you have uninstalled the app, lost your phone, or cannot sign in for any other reason, you can request deletion by email. This route exists so you can have your account deleted without installing the app:
- Address: support@fact-ai.app
- Subject:
Account deletion request - Send the message from the email address registered to your account. We need this to verify your identity; if it comes from a different address, we may ask for additional information to confirm you own the account.
- Please do not send us your password or any other secret — it is not needed for deletion.
We usually reply within 48 hours. Once your identity is verified, we complete the deletion within 30 days at the latest (the maximum period under GDPR and KVKK); in practice it usually takes a few business days.
3. Data that is deleted
When your account is deleted, we remove the personal data associated with it from our systems. By category:
- Account and sign-in data: your authentication record, email address, profile details and app preferences.
- Analysis history: the link between your account and the analyses you started, along with your history records.
- Saved items and follows: your bookmarks, the creators you follow and your topic interests.
- Interactions: your comments, reactions/votes, the content reports you submitted and your view records.
- Progress data: your badges and daily streak records.
- Notification data: your push notification records and notification preferences.
- Subscription record: the record we keep of your Pro subscription status.
If new data categories are added as the app evolves, all personal data linked to your account falls under the same deletion scope.
4. Data that is retained, and for how long
- Database backups: a copy of your data may remain in backups for a short period. Backups are kept for 7 days and then deleted automatically.
- Technical logs: API access logs and error reports (Sentry) are deleted automatically after 30 days.
- Public analysis results: public analyses of third-party social media content are part of a shared dataset and are not deleted; their link to your account is severed, so nothing left behind points to you. Private analyses created with the "store my analyses" setting off are deleted entirely, unless another user is linked to them.
- Anonymous measurement and statistics: product measurement records such as session duration are not deleted but anonymised — the link to the user is removed and only data that cannot be tied to a person remains. Aggregated, numerical statistics are likewise not personal data.
- Purchase records: payments are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play; purchase and invoice records are held by those platforms and cannot be deleted by us.
- Legal obligations: where applicable law requires us to retain certain records (for example abuse/security or commercial record-keeping obligations), those records are kept for the legally required period and deleted afterwards.
5. Questions
